Daily Writing Prompt 2

Daily writing prompt
When are you most happy?

What makes me happy… *the hamster of my brain begins to run on its wheel*…

Those moments of happiness are usually associated with a view, or what someone says or the look on their face when something happens.

Like when I’ve traveled with my husband and there’s a moment when I’m just hit with a lot at once, like when we went to Japan the first time. We stayed around Tokyo and went just the touristy spots for the most part; one day we went to Tokyo Skytree [one of the tallest skyscrapers in the world] and we went to the observation floor. You can see Mt Fuji in the distance. There were a lot of emotions and existential thoughts running through us lol.

I tend to be one who sits back and watches and observes people, so whenever I’m in a work meeting with my boss [store manager, district manager, leadership mentor… she wears a lot of hats lol] and fellow ASMs [5 of us total], we all have such a sassy and sarcastic yet business-cat dynamic that everyone will start laughing because I’m laughing because the look that someone gave in reaction to what someone else said makes it a miracle we actually get anything accomplished in said meetings, but we do and we get great results.

Now, what brings me never-ending joy… *brain hamster begins to sprint on its wheel*…

The times where I’ve been able to enjoy a good reading session. Like when my husband and I moved back north from living in Texas and I would be reading in the living room and the cat we had at the time, Lucy, would be sleeping on me. It reminds me of growing up with the family beagle; I would read to Patches all the time and he’d be so calm and fall asleep every time.

The second time my husband and I went to Japan, we had brought one of our close friends with. I developed a 2 day cold, so the guys went off to play Pokemon Go while I rested at the hotel. Our bed butted up to the window where there was a large enough ledge for you to sit on, so I ended up reading and finishing a really good book [a volume of The Familiar by Mark Z Danielewski] while having a great view of the country we’ve grown to love so much.

The joy that I have found in being a part of a family owned business where I get to help train and develop people in how to be self-sufficient with problem solving, work together as a team based off the skills a person bring to the table, improve a skill that they declared was their something to work on, and to overcome obstacles like mental health so that they can lead and coach others has been so rewarding.

My joy has been in Jesus. Through growing pains in my own leadership development, growing as a human, as the wife, He has held my peace and my joy. There are times when I, maybe more people out there too, forget this and end up living in the circumstance. I forget how to look at me the way He does, but in all that I learn to look at life and others the way He does.
